I am writing to express my support of John Reigle's book 'When Death Occurs' and his workshop. Mr. Reigle was a presenter at a mini conference we had at our facility; 'Seniors: Safe, Sound & Secure'. He gave a wonderful presentation and answered the many questions our seniors had for him.

The overview of all the end of life options were well defined. Mr. Reigle expressed the importance of saying goodbye to our loved ones and that a funeral is for the living. Mr. Reigle pointed out scams (over charges) he had come across and what he, as a funeral director, knew are things that should not be included in a funeral contract.

Being in a rural area with only one funeral home, Mr. Reigle did not criticize the local funeral home (this was well received by the senior citizens). The senior citizens, as well as myself, were very pleased with the presentation and are looking forward to seeing him again.

I would highly recommend Mr. Reigle to speak to as many organizations as possible. His book is a wonderful resource for future planning.

On behalf of Catholic Human Services, Area Agency on Aging, Region 9, and The Diocese of Gaylord, we want to thank you for providing information and displaying materials for seniors and their caregivers at the Gaylord Senior Expo on 8-21-2004.

Your valuable information helped participants become more knowledgeable about these topics and local resources that are very important to them at this time in their lives. We appreciate your supporting the expo not only by answering seniors' questions and discussing topics with them but also for the time involved in preparing, setting up and taking down your displays.

Your participation enriched their lives and contributed to the success of the expo. Again, thank you for helping us in this endeavor. We are looking forward to working together in the future.

"Your ideas on creating memorable and meaningful services were just wonderful. The video/music tribute that we made for my daughters service is something we will always cherish. Thank you, thank you."

Thoughtful People

On behalf of the Region IX Directors' Association (a twelve county membership), I am writing to show our support in John Reigle's presentations and workshops. John attended one of our meetings to present his book, When Death Occurs. John had given us a great overview with very helpful information. John is very knowledgeable and expressed his concerns of the number of people that have and could be taken advantage of in one of the most emotional times in their lives. John's program was very informative on the issues of casket vaults, burial options, the importance of closure and unnecessary expenses.

As a group we highly recommend John's program. This program would be beneficial to all ages. His book is designed to provide everything a person would need to plan a funeral. We have purchased his book for reference guides at our senior centers. We also believe the more people reached by this program, the better it will be for the loved ones still living.

- Lynn Hinojosa - President of Region IX Directors Association

"This is such a worthwhile and needed book. I truly believe it should be in every home. I think the thing I like best about it is the fact that once a basic choice is made you can follow that chapter in its entirety and not have to search through a lot of not-needed material at a time when you are under such stress."

"Having recently lost our mother, my family and I found When Death Occurs: A Practical Consumer's Guide of enormous help. While being pulled emotionally from all imaginable directions, we were able to make informed and relevant decisions by following his thoughtful and comprehensive book. It offers a clear appraisal of options, alternatives and ideas related to honoring the life of a loved one."

- David Trout Pomeroy, newspaper reporter and author, Facing 50: An Essay on Aging

"Our family chose a traditional funeral, and by price comparing funeral homes we saved over $1000.00 and we believe we got better service. Not bad for spending $19.95 for your book. Thank you and keep up the good work."
