End-of-Life Planning:
Information You Can Trust

When it's time to make important end-of-life decisions, families often lack the resources to make them well. Many seniors have a difficult time finding accurate, unbiased information about issues like long-term care insurance, funeral and memorial planning, and estate planning. The vast majority of seniors, according to a recent survey, consult only local funeral homes or cemeteries for information. Even worse, seniors often fall prey to unscrupulous or even fraudulent "advisers" who sell them products and services they don't need.

Workshops for Seniors, in conjunction with local senior groups, offers workshops on end-of-life planning for Michigan seniors and their families. Unlike many advisers, we have no financial stake in the decisions made by workshop attendees. Our goal is to help families understand their options and make choices that are appropriate to their financial status and their personal beliefs.

Setting Up A Workshop
Workshops for Seniors presents consumer education workshops at senior citizen community centers throughout Michigan. Each workshop, lasting two to three hours, focuses on issues that are important to senior citizens. A senior center can host as many workshops as it has a demand for. We can offer morning and afternoon workshops in a single day, or schedule workshops at regular intervals up to a year.

We limit the size of each group to 25 families. We've found that seniors respond better to smaller, more intimate workshops where they feel free to ask questions and receive thorough explanations.

Since many decisions and most information should be shared with family members, we encourage participants to invite their children to attend. Seniors who would like to participate but are unable to attend the workshop for health or other reasons may also send family members.

Three Generations
Workshop Benefits
The information presented in our workshops helps seniors and their families avoid needless expenses and plan meaningful, memorable services that suit their personal needs.

Participants are also given Mr. Reigle's contact information for any follow-up questions. Personal assistance offered after the workshops provides attendees long-term support.

Cost
Each workshop costs $19.95 per family.

This price includes not only the workshop but the handouts and books that participants take home, as well as personal support after the workshop.

Each family will receive a copy of Mr. Reigle's book " When Death Occurs... A Practical Consumer's Guide to Funerals, Memorials, Burial, Cremation, and Body Donation."

Workshop Formats
For the Memories gives detailed, step-by-step instructions to help individuals and families plan memorial and funeral services that are affordable, meaningful, and memorable. Participants can examine all options without being sold anything.

All of our workshops are formatted to allow participants to remain focused and comfortable. Twenty minutes of presentation are followed by twenty minutes of Q&A and then by a short break; we repeat this cycle until the workshop material has been covered.
